İrem Arslan is a singer-songwriter and vocal coach based between Barcelona and Istanbul. Her music brings together contemporary jazz, Turkish makam traditions, and rich vocal arrangements.

She started out with classical piano at the Antalya State Conservatory and later developed her sound at the Boğaziçi University Music Club while studying business. Over the years, she trained with vocalists like Elif Çağlar, Başak Yavuz, Sibel Köse, and Randy Esen, and attended workshops at the NY Jazz Workshop, Berklee Umbria Jazz Clinics, and Siena Jazz. She holds a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from Bahçeşehir University and completed a second master’s in Ethnomusicology at ITU MIAM, finishing her research on female vocal expression at Conservatorio di Musica Arrigo Boito in Parma.

As a live performer, İrem sang jazz and a cappella for years across various clubs and festivals. Her stage highlights include performing at the Sydney Opera House with the Gondwana Centenary Chorale, sharing an improvised set with Bobby McFerrin, and performing for three seasons in Fiddler on the Roof at Zorlu PSM. She has also toured internationally with the choir Chromas.

Her debut album, Ahenk, mixes Turkish and Western instruments, jazz harmonies, and environmental field recordings to tell stories of Mediterranean women and belonging. Currently, she is part of the European world music platform UPBEAT’s Artist Mentoring Programme, working with industry professionals on international touring and long-term projects.
